Located only a few kilometres from the centre of Mikkeli, the 1.3 km long Urpola nature trail offers a fun day out for the whole family. The easily accessible trail follows the Urpola river and has signs along the way to tell you about the conservation area and its inhabitants. If you are lucky, you may even spot one of the famous otters!

There are two campfire sites along the trail and you can get firewood free of charge from the nearby Nature Centre situated in the oldest building in Mikkeli, dating back to 1782. With interactive nature exhibitions every summer and kayaks you can borrow free of charge to explore the pond, Urpola Nature Centre is the perfect spot for exploring nature in the city.
