Mikkeli Art Museum studies, documents, and display art of Southern-Savonia. The museum concentrates on exhibitions, displaying fine arts, and taking care of and increasing art collections.
Mikkeli Art Museum was opened in 1970. Back then, the museum was called Johannes Haapasalo Museum. The name was changed to Mikkeli Art Museum in 1976, when Martti Airio art collection was donated to the museum. The museum located until year 2018 in building that dates back to 1912, and it was designed by architect Armas Rankka. Since June 2019 Mikkeli Art Museum has located in Shopping center Akseli.
Entrance fee: adults 6 €, seniors, students, unemployed 3 €, under 18s. free of charge, groups (more than 12 people) 5 €/person. The group price is valid if the entire group is paid in one go. The national Museum Card is valid at the museum.
Free admission on the first Friday of the month in winter (October-April).
