A little bit of culture?

A little bit of culture?

May we offer a little bit of culture? Mikkeli city is a traditional army headquarters city. During the wartime in 1939-40 and in 1941-44, the Finnish army headquarters was located in Mikkeli. Today, we offer a range of museums in Finnish military history.

Not interested in military history? Try Mikkeli Art Museum. Named as the Regional Art Museum in 1981, Mikkeli Art museum houses a number of collections. On permanent display, Art Museum houses the Martti Airio art collection as well as the Johannes Haapasalo art and sculpture collection.

Also worth noticing are the smaller exhibitions such as Kyyhkylä Manor barn gallery, photo display by the university centre, Saksala Art Radius and the Salmela Art Centre. Many local sights have also their specialized collections.
